Conhecida por hinos synth-pop carismáticos e campy como"Pink Pony Club", Chappell Roan é uma compositora americana, ícone queer e artista solo de Willard, Missouri. Ela nasceu como "Kayleigh Rose Amstutz" em 19 de fevereiro de 1998 e começou a tocar piano aos 10 anos de idade. Aos 17 anos, já escrevia música original e recebia ofertas de editoras discográficas, acabando por assinar com a Atlantic em 2017 e lançando o seu EP de estreia, School Nights, nesse mesmo ano. Roan começou a trabalhar com o produtor Dan Nigro em 2020, e a colaboração revigorou a sua abordagem à música pop."Pink Pony Club", seu primeiro single produzido por Nigro, foi lançado naquele ano e se tornou um sucesso viral aclamado pela crítica, embora sua falta de sucesso comercial tenha levado a Atlantic a retirar Chappell Roan de sua lista.
