Alfred Raimund "Fredl" Fesl, born on July 7, 1947, in Grafenau, Germany, was a German singer considered the inventor of Bavarian musical cabaret. Fesl's musical journey began when he started performing at Munich's small stages, initially gaining entry by posing as an accompanying musician. His breakthrough came with the release of his debut album Fredl Fesl in 1976, which included notable songs like "Ritter Hadubrand" and "Der Königsjodler". Throughout his career, Fesl released several albums, including Die Fünfte Von Fredl Fesl (1983) and 4 – Bayrische Und Melankomische Lieder (1981). He was also known for his humorous and often lengthy introductions to his songs during live performances. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1997, he continued to perform until his retirement in 2006. Fesl passed away on June 25, 2024, at the age of 76.
