Formado por Danny Hull (sintetizador y coros), Joe Vickers (guitarra), Jordan Smith (bajo), Luke Irvin (batería) y Ryan Smith, bdrmm, el grupo indie de Kingston upon Hull con aires shoegaze, pasó de ser un proyecto en solitario del vocalista Ryan Smith a convertirse en una banda de pleno derecho en 2016. Después de generar expectación con una serie de singles digitales, incluyendo "C:U " de 2018 , el grupo llamó la atención de los incondicionales del indie británico Permanent Creeps, que ayudaron a ampliar el alcance de bdrmm, y finalmente les llevó a firmar con Sonic Cathedral en 2019. Su primer EP, If Not, When? siguió ese mismo año con el álbum debut del grupo, Bedroom, que llegó en 2020. Posteriormente firmaron con Record Action de Mogwai y ampliaron su paleta para su segundo álbum de estudio I Don't Know, lanzado en 2023, que introdujo elementos electrónicos y ambientales a su arremolinado y ensoñador sonido shoegaze. Producido por Alex Greaves, el álbum alcanzó el número 51 en el Reino Unido. El tercer álbum de estudio del grupo, Microtonic, salió en febrero de 2025 e incorporaba más texturas electrónicas que sus anteriores trabajos.
