Qasim Khalaf, (born 30 Juli 2000) better known by the mononym MCqasim is a German rapper of Kurdish origin.
Qasim Khalaf grew up as a child of immigrants from Iraq in Ortenaukreis. He started rapping at the age of 16 and tried his hand at gangster rap. He turned away from this and went over to moral, sometimes religiously motivated texts. In the beginning he mainly performed in the pedestrian zone of his hometown.
MCqasim first drew attention to itself in 2020 after publications on the Internet, which were also discussed in the Internet media. Barbie, one of his most watched videos, also dates from this period. In the years that followed, however, he made a name for himself primarily through Instagram. The number of his followers rose to a hundred thousand. Some of his regularly published videos have four-digit hits.
In autumn 2021 he was signed by major label Sony Music Entertainment (The Orchard Music). In November, the first official video was published with Love-Nwantiti. It got over 20,000 views on YouTube, as did Ma Bae, released at the beginning of 2022. His track Love Nwantiti (German Remix) was released on November 8th, in which the pop singer Ckay is involved as a guest musician on one song. The track reached the Top 100 in USA, Great Britain and the Israel.
