Skanda is a Spanish band from Mieres, Asturias. Formed in 1996 by Pepe Fueyo and Marcos Castañón, the ensemble originally performed under the name Mieriners. The group’s musical style is associated with the folk mestizo and industrial folk genres, combining traditional Asturian music with elements of rock, soul, jazz and ska. Their recordings feature lyrics written in the Asturian language. The band released its eponymous debut studio album, Skanda, in 1999 through the label L'Aguañaz. Their recording history also featured the studio recordings Mecigaya (2002), which was produced by Paco Loco, and Sangre d´Ochobre (2004). In 2004, the track “Sangre d'ochobre” received a nomination for Best Song in Asturian at the SGAE Music Awards. During its career, the ensemble has performed alongside acts including Capercaillie and Kepa Junkera. The group subsequently issued the studio recordings El Cuartu (2007) and Folk & Roll Circus (2010), the latter of which featured a collaboration with singer Anabel Santiago. In 2026, members of the ensemble include Fueyo, Castañón, Michell Ardura, Juan Oliva, Tino Díaz and Héctor Braga.
