Roger Alan Painter, known professionally as Rozz Williams, and born on November 6, 1963, in Pomona, California, was a singer-songwriter. Raised in a strict Southern Baptist family, he formed his first band, the A-Sexuals, at age 15. In October 1979, Painter and John "Jay" Albert founded Christian Death, initially a punk rock band. Their debut album Only Theatre of Pain was released in 1982, via Frontier Records. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Williams explored various musical styles, including deathrock, gothic rock, industrial, and spoken word, collaborating with Eva O in Shadow Project and forming Premature Ejaculation. He also released solo albums such as Every King a Bastard Son (1992) and The Whorse's Mouth (1996) and worked on projects like Daucus Karota, Heltir, EXP, Bloodflag, and his own version of Christian Death. Williams died by suicide on April 1, 1998.
