This Is Hell is an American hardcore punk band from Long Island, New York, formed in June 2004. The group was composed of musicians from disbanded bands such as The Backup Plan and Subterfuge. Their initial breakthrough came with the release of a self-titled demo EP, which sold out quickly and gained significant popularity. In 2005, they released their first EP on Run For Cover Records, catching the attention of Trustkill Records, who signed them shortly after. This Is Hell's debut album, Sundowning, was released in 2006 to positive reviews from major publications, including Alternative Press and Metal Hammer. The band participated in notable tours such as Sounds of the Underground and Taste of Chaos. In 2010, they signed with Rise Records and released Weight of the World in 2010, followed by Black Mass in 2011.
