Enzo Favata, born November 17, 1956, in Alghero, Sardinia, is an Italian saxophonist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and live electronics performer. His musical career began in 1983 with traditional jazz, but he soon turned to Sardinian folk music and also incorporated sampling, live electronics, and traditional Sardinian wind instruments into his work, while drawing on influences from Latin American and other musical cultures. Favata has performed more than 2,000 concerts worldwide, collaborating with artists including Dino Saluzzi, Miroslav Vitous, Dave Liebman, Lester Bowie, and Trilok Gurtu. He also composes soundtracks and founded the Musica sulle Bocche Festival in 1990. His discography includes Tangos de la Tardor (1987), Boghes and Voices (2001), and Made in Sardinia (2003).
