Linda Sharrock, born Linda Chambers on April 2, 1947, in Philadelphia, is an American jazz singer. She sang in a church choir as a child and developed interests in folk music and free jazz. In the mid-1960s, Sharrock moved to New York City, performing with Pharoah Sanders and studying under Giuseppi Logan. She married guitarist Sonny Sharrock in 1966, collaborating on albums like Black Woman (1969) and Paradise (1975). After divorcing in 1978, she moved to Vienna and formed the group Red Sun with Wolfgang Puschnig. Notable releases include On Holiday (1990), a tribute to Billie Holiday, and Listen to the Night (1994) with Eric Watson. Sharrock faced health challenges after an attack in 2009 but returned to performing in 2012.
