The Bluegrass Cardinals was an American bluegrass band formed in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1974 by Don Parmley, the group originally included Randy Graham and Parmley's son David Parmley. Don Parmley had previously performed with the band The Hillmen and contributed banjo music to the television show The Beverly Hillbillies. The ensemble moved to Virginia and released its self-titled debut album in 1976. This was followed by the album Welcome to Virginia in 1977. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, the band released numerous albums on the CMH Records label including Livin' in the Good Old Days (1978), Cardinal Soul (1979) and Sunday Mornin' Singin' (1980). The group appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and recorded with musician Del McCoury in 1991. The Bluegrass Cardinals disbanded in 1997 when Parmley retired from music. The ensemble was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2025.
