Armchair Martian, an American punk and alt-country band formed in 1993 in Fort Collins, Colorado, were influenced by bands like Descendents, Hüsker Dü, and Uncle Tupelo. Their early releases included the EP Xenophobe: A Car (1996) and the album Armchair Martian (1997), both released through Cargo/Headhunter Records. Their discography expanded with albums like Hang On Ted (1999) and Who Wants to Play Bass? (2007). Their notable collaborations included a split CD titled War of the Worlds (2001) with Bad Astronaut, featuring main songwriter and vocalist Joey Cape. They also released compilations such as Good Guys, Bad Band (2007), which included out-of-print material reissued by Suburban Home/Mars Motors. Their singer, Jon Snodgrass, later formed Drag the River.
