Gabriel Nathaniel Brown, known professionally as Bronze Avery, is an American pop singer-songwriter who is based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Orlando, Florida, on October 24, 1994, he grew up in a military family and relocated to Seattle, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta before returning to his birthplace following his parents' divorce. He launched his music career under his birth name, releasing his debut extended play, American Dream, in 2015, before adopting his stage name to distinguish himself from other artists with the same name. Avery initially avoided discussing his sexuality in his music but later embraced LGBT+ themes, releasing his debut single as Bronze Avery, “Pressure”, in 2017. He subsequently released the extended plays Split (2019), Retrospect (2019), Flash Burn (2021), and Softshell (2022). His debut studio album, Softmetal, was self-released in November 2022, followed by his second studio album, Heatwave, on June 13, 2024, which featured uptempo electro-pop beats reflecting his experiences as a queer person. In 2019, he performed at Los Angeles Pride and directed a music video for the single “Want 2”. Avery has cited Charli XCX, Gwen Stefani, and Tove Lo as key musical influences.
