Alan F. Deil, known professionally as Spookey Ruben, was born in Ontario, Canada and is a musician, producer, songwriter, composer, and filmmaker. Growing up in various locations due to his father's work, including Germany, the Netherlands, and Washington D.C., Deil began playing classical guitar at a young age before transitioning to electric guitar and forming hardcore and metal bands during his teenage years. Spookey Ruben's music career took off with the release of his debut album Modes Of Transportation Vol. 1 in 1995, which garnered international critical acclaim. His song "These Days Are Old" from this album became notable for its unique production techniques and contrasting vocals. After disputes with his label TVT Records, Ruben released two separate CDs entitled Bed and Breakfast in 2001, which were later repackaged as a double album.
