Tommy McMahon, known professionally as Controller 7, is an American underground hip-hop producer and DJ from San Jose, California. Gaining recognition in the late 1990s, he released his debut studio album, Left Handed Straw (2000), which was reissued on the label 6months in 2001. His subsequent solo releases include the EPs Expansions (2003) and Egg (2005), as well as the albums Bumps (2005), The Lost Tapes (1997-1998) (2007), and Exhale01 (2020). Throughout his career, McMahon produced and remixed tracks for Anticon artists including Sole, Sage Francis, and Themselves. His production and remix credits include “Dismantling of Sole's Ego” (1999) and “Furthermore” (1999) for Sole, and “Rainmen (Controller 7 Remix)” (1999) for Deep Puddle Dynamics. He also contributed “Heckles from the Peanut Gallery” to the compilation Giga Single (2001), and “Bunny Slippers” to the Anticon Label Sampler: 1999-2004 (2004).
