Fabien Degryse, born on November 6, 1960 in Brussels, Belgium, is a guitarist known for his contributions to jazz. He began playing guitar as an autodidact and formed the traditional music group Les Wallebake in 1976, performing until 1980. Degryse studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1980 to 1982. He collaborated with notable jazz figures such as Philip Catherine and Toots Thielemans, and was part of the folk project Panta Rhei between 1993 and 1997. Degryse has released nine albums under his name, including Medor Sadness (1992) and "Hommage à René Thomas" which topped the best jazz albums of 1997 according to Le Soir. He was named the best acoustic guitarist in Belgium for 1998. Degryse has performed extensively across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America with various ensembles, including Panta Rhei, L’Âme des Poètes, as well as with his own trio or in solo performances.
