Jamie Freeman, born James Freeman on May 27, 1965, was a British singer and songwriter. He began his musical journey at the age of 13 as a drummer and later became proficient in guitar, keyboards, bass, lap steel, and percussion. His first album Just You, released under his name, blended UK folk with American roots music. Freeman's subsequent album 100 Miles From Town was released under The Jamie Freeman Agreement, featuring guest appearances by Larkin Poe, Brandy Zdan, Richard Smith, and The Good Lovelies. In 2019, he released Dreams About Falling, which included co-writes with Angaleena Presley, Brandy Zdan, and Amy Speace. His song "The Fire", co-written with Ben Glover, was nominated for UK Song of the Year at the UK Americana Awards in 2017. Freeman died from brain cancer on December 3, 2022, at the age of 57.
