Mazinga Phaser, a psychedelic space rock band from Denton, Texas, formed in 1993 with Jessica Nelson on vocals and keyboards, Cole Wheeler on bass, Mwanza "Wanz" Dover on guitar and programming, Eric Hermeyer on guitar, and Travis Williams on drums. Their debut album, Cruising in the Neon Glories of the New American Night, was released in 1996 under Aether Records. The band relocated to Fort Worth and signed with Idol Records, who issued their second album, Abandinallhope, in late 1997, followed by the EP Counting Breaths two years later. After Dover left to form The Falcon Project, Mike Throneberry replaced Travis Williams on drums. Mazinga Phaser released their third album, Dissatisfied Customers of Hallucination, in 2000 and subsequently disbanded. Their song "Dream of Lost Rivers" was featured in David Gordon Green's 2001 film George Washington.
