Torngat is a Canadian indie band based in Montreal, Quebec formed in 2001, consisting of Pietro Amato (French horn, electronics, percussion, melodeon), Mathieu Charbonneau (Wurlitzer, analog synth, Hammond, percussion, melodeon), and Julien Poissant (percussion, Wurlitzer, trumpet, melodeon). The trio’s first release was a self‑titled album in 2002, followed by the EP La Rouge in 2005, which introduced their instrument‑swapping stage technique. In 2007, after signing with Alien8 Recordings, they issued You Could Be, receiving favorable reviews. That same year, the band performed at the Hillside Festival in Guelph. Their subsequent album La Petite Nicole appeared in 2009, solidifying their presence in the Canadian indie scene.
