Anthony Bennett, known professionally as Duster Bennett, was born on September 23, 1946, in Welshpool, Powys, Mid Wales. He emerged as a British blues singer and musician in the late 1960s from the art school music scene of Kingston-upon-Thames and Guildford. Bennett's first album, Smiling Like I'm Happy, released in 1968, showcased his one-man band style. His early career included sessions as a harmonica player in the 1960s and appearances on John Peel's Top Gear between 1968 and 1970. He toured with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in 1970 and recorded several albums for Blue Horizon, including Bright Lights, which was recorded live at the Gin Mill Club in Godalming, Surrey. His final album, Fingertips (1975), featured influences of soul, R&B, and funk. Bennett died in a car crash on March 26, 1976, while driving home after performing with Memphis Slim.
