Wrathchild, also known as Wrathchild UK, are an English glam metal band formed in 1980 in Evesham, Worcestershire, by bassist Marc Angel and guitarist Phil Vokins. They recruited vocalist Robert Barclay, who used the stage name Rocky Shades, and drummer Brian Parry. The band used a D.I.Y. aesthetic common for many New Wave of British Heavy Metal groups and their early performances in pubs included the use of confetti and pyrotechnics. After releasing a string of demos, Wrathchild signed with Bullet Records and released the Stackheel Strutt EP (1983). In 1984, they released the debut studio album Stakk Attakk, which featured the singles “Alrite with the Boyz” and “Trash Queen”. The band was signed to Heavy Metal Records when RCA Records unsuccessfully attempted to sign them during a contractual dispute. Their second album The Biz Suxx was released in 1988 and produced the single “Nukklear Rokket”. Ron Kennedy directed the music video for the track. A third studio album Delirium followed in 1989. Shades departed the group in 1991 and the band broke up. In 2011, they released the album Stakkattakktwo on Perris Records. In 2025, Wrathchild recorded the four-track EP Still Here in the Freakshow at Abatis Recording Studio with producer Jon Priestley. The band announced the fifth studio album Future Bomb (2026) later that year.
