ASTERISM is a three-piece instrumental metal band from Japan, originating from Fukuoka and Saga. Formed in 2014, the group consists of guitarist HAL-CA, bassist MIYU, and drummer MIO. The band came together after meeting at a Yamaha-sponsored music contest in 2014. Their talent quickly gained recognition, and in 2016, a video of their performance, "155", uploaded to social medi, amassed over 13 million views after catching the attention of legendary bassist Bootsy Collins. ASTERISM has performed at major international events, including SXSW Music Festival, Taihu Midi Festival, Knotfest Japan, FOX_FEST, and Japan Expo, taking their music to the United States, France, South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Singapore. The COVID-19 pandemic temporarily halted live performances but provided the band with time to refine their sound. Relocating to Tokyo in 2022, ASTERISM fully restarted their career, leading to their major label debut with SME Records in 2023. Their evolving sound is highlighted in their track "Crescendo"(2025), marking a new phase in their musical journey.
