Tripmaster Monkey was an indie rock band from the Quad Cities region, encompassing Davenport, Iowa, and Rock Island, Illinois. The group consisted of Chris Bernat on vocals, Jamie Toal on guitars, Wes Haas on bass, and Marty Reyhons on drums. Their music career began with the release of their EP, Faster than Dwight, in 1993. This was followed by their album, Goodbye Race, released in 1994 under Reprise/Sire Records. The band's straightforward guitar-driven rock, influenced by punk and grunge, gained them a following in the alternative rock scene. In 1996, they released two albums, Practice Applications and Practice Changes. Their single "Present Tense" was featured on the soundtrack for the 1993 film Naked in New York. The band disbanded after a lengthy American tour in 1996. In 2019, Tripmaster Monkey reunited to record their third full-length album, My East is Your West.
