I Am Kloot was an English rock band that emerged from Manchester in 1999 and gained recognition for its introspective songwriting. The group released its debut album Natural History in 2001 after a period of local gigs and independent recordings. Their second, self-titled album, I Am Kloot, arrived in 2003, followed by the singles "3 Feet Tall" and "From Your Favourite Sky" in 2003 and 2004, which added depth to their early catalog and set the stage for a steady rise in the independent music scene. Their third album, Gods and Monsters, was released in 2005, alongside the single "Over My Shoulder", which helped the band secure a broader audience. Later that same year, the standalone single "Maybe I Should" solidified their reputation for lyrical nuance, and in 2006 their first Peel Sessions collection, BBC Radio 1 John Peel Sessions, captured session tracks recorded for the John Peel programme. The 2008 release I Am Kloot Play Moolah Rouge broadened their sound, while B (2009) and Sky at Night (2010) continued to chart their artistic evolution, the latter earning the band a Mercury Prize nomination. Their 2013 album Let It All In showcased a matured sonic palette. Subsequent work, including the 2014 soundtrack for the BBC One miniseries From There to Here, anchored I Am Kloot's position within contemporary British rock and underscored a career marked by consistent creative output and a dedicated fan base before the band split in 2016.
