Shockabilly was an American avant-rock band from New York City formed in 1982. The group consisted of guitarist and vocalist Eugene Chadbourne, bass guitarist and organist Mark Kramer, and drummer David Licht. Their debut EP, The Dawn of Shockabilly (1982), showcased an experimental approach to music that encompassed influences from blues, country, folk, and rockabilly. The group released four studio albums between 1982 and 1985: Earth vs. Shockabilly (1983), Colosseum (1984), Vietnam (1984), and Heaven (1985). Their music featured avant-garde arrangements and covers of other artists' songs that were nearly unrecognizable from the original compositions, influencing future experimental rock bands such as Sonic Youth and Primus. The trio disbanded in 1985. Later releases include the live album Live: ...Just Beautiful (1990) and the compilation Vietnam/Heaven.
