Claudi Martí, known professionally as Claude Marti, was born on March 6, 1940, in Carcassonne, France. He is an Occitan singer-songwriter with roots in Catalan and Aragonese cultures. Martí gained prominence during the social movements of May 1968. Albums include Occitània! (1969) and Lengadòc roge (1971). In the 1980s, he collaborated with musicians such as Gérard Pansanel on guitar, Pierre Peyras on double bass, and Patrice Héral on percussion. Notable albums include El jinete (2002) and Brassens en Oc (2010). Awards include the Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros in 1973 for Lo païs que vòl viure and the Médaille d'honneur de la ville de Carcassonne in 2011.
