Joxe Ripiau was a Spanish band from the Basque Country, formed in 1996 by Iñigo Muguruza. The group's unique sound blended reggae, ska, and Latin rhythms with lyrics in Basque. Inspired by a trip to Puerto Rico, Iñigo Muguruza founded Joxe Ripiau with his brother Jabier Muguruza and Sergio Ordóñez. Their debut album, Positive Bomb, released in 1996, showcased a fusion of raggamuffin, cumbia, ska, and reggae. The band's second album, Karpe Diem (1997), further explored Latin rhythms. In 1998, Asier Ituarte joined on trombone, completing the quartet. Their third album, Paradisu Zinema, featured songs inspired by movies. In 2000, the band released Bizitza Triste eta Ederra which included more melancholic tracks.
