Billy Newton-Davis, born on April 26, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, is an American-Canadian R&B, jazz, and gospel singer and songwriter. Raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, he started his career as a lead singer in The Illusions before moving to Toronto, Ontario, in 1980. His debut album Love Is a Contact Sport (1986) won the Juno Award for best R&B/soul recording and featured hit singles like "Deeper" (1986) and "Right Beside You" (1986). In 1989, he released his second album Spellbound, which included his biggest Canadian chart hit "I Can't Take It" (1989) and a duet with Celine Dion titled "Can't Live with You, Can't Live Without You" (1989). Newton-Davis joined The Nylons in 1991. He later focused on songwriting and live performances, collaborating with deadmau5 on tracks like "Outta My Life" (2007) and "All You Ever Want" (2009). In 2008, he won the Juno Award for Best Dance Album for All You Ever Want.
