Bárbara Paz Muñoz Urzúa, known professionally as Barbara Muñoz, was born on June 13, 1985, in Santiago, Chile. She is a singer and songwriter who began showcasing her artistic talents at a young age, learning to sing and compose songs by the time she was 12 years old. Her breakthrough moment came when she participated in the Chilean talent show Rojo Fama Contrafama in 2004, where she won first place in the singers category. She released her first album Amanecer in 2005 and later moved to Mexico and signed with Sony BMG Music Entertainment. She released her debut album, Barbara, in 2007, which featured collaborations with notable artists such as Luis Fonsi, Mario Domm, Claudia Brant, Noel Schajris, and Leonel García. She announced her retirement from music in 2020.
