Richard "Rik" Waller, born in 1981 in the United Kingdom, is a British pop singer known for his television appearances and chart-topping singles. Rik Waller's music career began with his participation in the first series of the British ITV television series Pop Idol. He initially made it into the last ten contestants but withdrew due to severe laryngitis, leading to his replacement by Darius Danesh. Despite this setback, Rik Waller signed a recording contract with EMI in 2002.
His debut single, "I Will Always Love You", a cover of Dolly Parton's iconic song, reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. This success was followed by another Top 40 hit, "(Something Inside) So Strong", originally recorded by Labi Siffre. Both songs were included in his debut album From Now..., released in July 2002. After being dropped by EMI, Rik Waller formed his own band and signed with Red Admiral Records. His second album, Innocence, was released in September 2005. Richard Waller also made several television appearances, including roles on Celebrity Fit Club in 2002 and Never Mind the Buzzcocks in February 2007. However, his singing career ended in 2007 due to ongoing issues with laryngitis. In later years, he faced financial difficulties and worked as an exam invigilator in Sittingbourne, Kent.
