Volcano Choir, an American indie rock group from Wisconsin, formed in 2005, emerged from a collaboration between Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and members of Collections of Colonies of Bees. The ensemble’s debut single, "Island, Is," appeared in 2009, followed by the release of the album Unmap in 2009, which entered the Billboard Top 200 at number 92. In 2013, the band issued its second album, Repave, on Jagjaguwar, recorded at Vernon's April Base studio, and released singles such as "Byegone" and "Comrade". After touring, including a Japan run in 2010 and support for Repave until November 2014, Volcano Choir entered a hiatus as Vernon focused on Bon Iver.
