Passenger, a Swedish alternative metal band from Göteborg, was formed in 1995 under the name Cliff by Patrik J. Sten and Niclas Engelin. Their music blended hard grooves with pop elements, influenced by groups like Handsome, Chum, Helmet, Depeche Mode, and the Posies. The duo initially recorded two unreleased songs at Studio Fredman before pausing due to other commitments. In 2000, with the addition of Anders Fridén on vocals and Håkan Skoger on bass, Passenger resumed activities and released their debut album Passenger in 2003 via Century Media. Notable songs from the album include "In Reverse" and "For You". Passenger toured Europe in December 2003 alongside Moonspell, Lacuna Coil, and Poisonblack. Despite recording new material in 2004, the band disbanded that same year.
