The VSS was an American rock band from Boulder, formed in 1995 after the breakup of the hardcore group Angel Hair. The band consisted of vocalist Sonny Kay, guitarist Josh Hughes, bassist Andrew Douglas Rothbard, and drummer Dave Clifford. They released several 7-inch records and toured the United States. In 1997, their only album, Nervous Circuits, was released on Honey Bear Records. Midway through their career, the band relocated to San Francisco and disbanded shortly after the album’s release. After the breakup, Kay sang with Year Future and founded the label Gold Standard Laboratories. In 2008, Hydra Head Records reissued Nervous Circuits on CD with a bonus DVD.
