Discordance Axis was an American grindcore band formed in 1991 in East Brunswick, New Jersey, by Jon Chang. The band initially included guitarist Rob Marton and drummer Dave Witte. They released their debut studio album, Ulterior, in 1995. In 1997, they released the EP Necropolitan and the album Jouhou, which showcased a more original style compared to their earlier grindcore influences. The band's third and final studio album, The Inalienable Dreamless, was released in 2000. Discordance Axis disbanded in April 2001 after Rob Marton left due to severe ear damage. Their final show took place at CBGB on May 13, 2001. Following the band's breakup, Chang formed Gridlink in 2004, and Witte continued his career with various bands, including Human Remains and Municipal Waste.
