Blasphemy, a Canadian black metal band from Vancouver, British Columbia, was formed in 1984. Initially named Antichrist, the group changed its name to Desaster and Thrash Hammer before settling on Blasphemy in 1987. Their first demo, Blood Upon the Altar, was released in 1989, followed by their debut album, Fallen Angel of Doom, in 1990 under Wild Rags Records. In 1993, they released their second studio album, Gods of War, through Osmose Productions and participated in the European Fuck Christ Tour with Immortal and Rotting Christ. Blasphemy returned to perform live in July 2001, releasing the concert recording Live Ritual: Friday the 13th in the same year. The band continued to release albums including Desecration of São Paulo - Live in Brazilian Ritual Third Attack (2016) and Victory (Son of the Damned) (2018).
