Sweet Velvet were a Japanese pop ensemble from Osaka established in 1998. The group consisted of the musicians Mizuki Akimoto, Shinichi Inoue, Ryōsuke Shimizu, and Naoyuki Tsukada. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style influenced by 1960s French pop and a name derived from the velvety quality of Akimoto's voice. Their recording career began with the major track "I Just Feel So Love Again Soba ni Iru Dake de" (1999) which reached number 25 in Japan and served as the ending theme for the television program Mamotte Shugogetten. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the track "Flame of Love" (1999) which reached number 46 and served as the ending theme for the television program Monster Farm. Their discography included the extended play Sweet Velvet (1999) and the track "Lazy Drive" (1999) which reached number 79. They achieved professional recognition for the debut studio recording I Just Feel So "Sweet" (2000) which reached number 100. The group's recording career included the track "Sweeter Baby / So Good" (1999) and the compilation recording Giza Studio Presents: Girls (2011). The ensemble became inactive in 2001.
