Christiane “Bobo(lina)” Hebold, born in 1967 and originally from Gräfenhainichen, is the lead singer of the German indie-rock band Bobo in White Wooden Houses. She met guitarist Frank Heise in 1990 and founded the band with him. Their early single “Hole in Heaven” was a success, and “Wide Awake” helped them win the Leipzig Rock Competition. Their albums Bobo in White Wooden Houses (1992), Passing Stranger (1993), and Cosmic Ceiling (1995) brought strong sales, and the video for “Travel in My Mind” was nominated for the MTV Euro-Video-Grand Prix. After Heise’s suicide in 1995, the lineup dissolved, and Hebold pursued solo projects, including a 1996 single with the London Session Orchestra. The band re-formed in 2004 with a new lineup, with Axel “Lexa” Schäfer returning in 2007 and Jan Stolterfoht and Christian Kohler joining by 2010, and released Mental Radio (2007) and Transparent (2010).
