Koji Wada, born on January 29, 1974, in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, Japan, is a Japanese pop singer. His career began with his debut single "Butter-Fly", released on April 23, 1999, which served as the theme song for the anime series Digimon Adventure. Wada's breakthrough continued with subsequent releases such as the EP The Biggest Dreamer in May 2001 and the single "Target: Akai Shōgeki" (Target ~Red Crash~) in April 26, 2000. He was signed to the Lantis recording label and released his first original album, All of My Mind, in 2003. Wada collaborated with Michihiko Ōta on the self-cover album Mirai e no Message: Ōta Michihiko Self-Cover and contributed songs to six of the seven Digimon anime series, including opening themes for the first five. His international appearances included performances at conventions in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Argentina. In 2011, Wada announced he was putting his career on hold due to metastasized cancer. He passed away on April 3, 2016, from complications related to nasopharynx cancer. His final single, "Seven〜tri. Version〜", was released five days before his death. Posthumous tributes include the CD Digimon Song Best of Koji Wada, released in July 2016, and the compilation Koji Wada Digimon Memorial Best in January 2017.
