Sabine Paturel, born Sabine Mireille Jeanne Paturel in Toulon in 1955, is a French singer whose career began in the mid-1980s with the hit single “Les Bêtises”, composed by Sylvain Lebel and Dominique Pankratoff, which came out in late 1985 and spent 36 weeks in the Top 50, reaching number 2 in May 1986. The follow-up single “P’tit Bouchon” failed to match that success, and in 1987 she issued her debut album Cœur bébé, which earned the Laser d’or from the Académie du disque. In 1990, after a dispute with her production company, Paturel withdrew from the music scene to focus on theatre, founding her own drama workshop that ran until 2002 and performing in productions such as La Menteuse and La Mégère apprivoisée. She returned to music in 2009 through the RFM Party 80 tour and continued to release recordings, including the 2014 album Atmosphères, which contains the songs from her one-woman musical show J’ai deux mots à vous dire. Subsequent singles, including “Je me fous de tout” (2015), “Putain de monde” (2020), “Courage c’est Noël” (2023), and “Femme qu’on assassine” (2024), demonstrate her enduring presence on the French music scene. Her career is marked by early chart success, a significant theatrical interlude, and continued activity in both music and performance arts.
