Dena Miller, known by the stage name Deer Scout, is an American indie folk singer from Yonkers, New York. Raised in a family of folk musicians, she began recording while in college, first releasing the self-released EP customs in 2016 and touring across the United States. After moving to Ohio and graduating from Oberlin College, Miller met producer Ko Takasugi-Czernowin and collaborator Zuzia Weyman, whose partnership shaped her debut full-length album Woodpecker, released on April 8, 2022, under Carpark Records. The album features the track “Peace with the Damage”, co-written with her father and originally sung by her mother. Influences cited include Jenny Lewis and Hop Along’s album Freshman Year.
