Jack Starr, born in 1951, is an American heavy metal and blues guitarist. Starr learned to play guitar by ear and joined the French-based semi-professional band California before returning to the United States. In 1981, Starr co-founded the heavy metal band Virgin Steele, contributing the song “Children of the Storm” to the compilation album U.S. Metal Volume 2 (1982). Starr released his debut solo studio album, Out of the Darkness, in 1984. Starr subsequently led the band Jack Starr's Burning Starr, releasing the studio albums Rock the American Way (1985) and No Turning Back (1986). Following brief stints with the bands Strider and Smokestack Lightning, Starr formed Guardians of the Flame, which released the studio album Under a Savage Sky (2003). In 2006, Starr established the Jack Starr Blues Band, releasing the album Take It to the Bank (2008). Starr's subsequent work with Burning Starr includes the studio albums Land of the Dead (2011) and Souls of the Innocent (2022).
