Device foi um trio americano de pop-rock de meados da década de 1980, formado pelo teclista e baixista Holly Knight. O grupo também incluía o vocalista Paul Engemann e o guitarrista Gene Black. Antes de formar os Device, Knight já se tinha estabelecido como compositora, escrevendo êxitos para artistas como Pat Benatar e Tina Turner. Em 1985, Knight e Black colaboraram com Turner em "One of the Living" da banda sonora de Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. No ano seguinte, os Device lançaram o seu álbum de estreia, 22B3, que incluía o single "Hanging on a Heart Attack", que chegou ao 35º lugar na Billboard Hot 100. O segundo single da banda, "Who Says", alcançou o número 79. Ambas as canções foram promovidas com videoclipes que receberam grande rotação na MTV. 22B3 alcançou o número 73 na tabela Billboard 200. Apesar do seu sucesso inicial, os Device separaram-se em 1986. Após a separação, Knight lançou um álbum solo autointitulado em 1988, enquanto Engemann se juntou ao Animotion e Black continuou a trabalhar em sessões com vários artistas. 22B3 foi relançado em CD pela Renaissance Records em 1996 e novamente em 2007.
