The Rock‑afire Explosion was an animatronic band created in 1980 by inventor Aaron Fechter of Creative Engineering, Inc. for ShowBiz Pizza Place restaurants. Its anthropomorphic animal characters, including a brown bear, grey wolf, and silverback gorilla, performed classic rock, pop, country medleys, original pieces, and comedic skits. In the 1980s, the group released its first studio album, Gee, Our 1st Album, and Homely for Christmas. The band was renamed Munch’s Make Believe Band when ShowBiz shifted to Chuck E Cheese characters in the early 1990s. After separating from ShowBiz, Fechter marketed the band to other venues and revived it for private and museum shows from the 2000s onward. Its pioneering animatronic technology later influenced the 2010s video‑game horror series Five Nights at Freddy’s; live shows have continued to be performed at Billy Bob’s Wonderland and the Volo Museum.
