The Trashmonkeys were a German-British mod revival band formed in 1998 by musicians from Bremen, Hamburg, and Cologne. Blending 1960s and 1970s influences with garage rock, power pop, and pop-punk, they built a reputation through energetic live performances across Europe and Japan. After their self-titled debut in 1998, they gained wider recognition with Clubtown (2002), released on London's Acid Jazz label, while the song "Sundays" became the theme for the Italian television program Le Iene. They later released The Maker (2004), Favourite Enemy (2006), and Smile (2009). The band announced its breakup in 2012, after which several members formed the group Rhonda.
