The Regensburger Domspatzen, founded in 975 at Regensburg Cathedral in Bavaria, Germany, is one of the oldest boys' choirs. Established by Bishop Wolfgang of Regensburg, the choir has been integral to liturgical services for over a thousand years. In the 20th century, directors Theobald Schrems (1924-1963) and Georg Ratzinger (1964–1994) institutionalized its structure. They released notable albums such as Stille Nacht - Weihnachtslieder - Silent Night - Christmas Carols in 1999, Johann Sebastian Bach: Magnificat, BWV 243a - Cantata, BWV 10 in 2000 and Pacem Peace – Musik Des Friedens – Geistliche Musik In Unserer Zeit in 2001. The choir has performed for Queen Elizabeth II (1978), Pope John Paul II (1980) and conducted significant tours worldwide.
