Frank Chastenier, born on December 24, 1966 in Aachen, Germany, is a pianist known for his contributions to jazz. He began playing the piano at age eight and won first place at Jugend jazzt at age 13. At 17, he started classical piano studies while also pursuing jazz studies under Francis Coppieters. Chastenier's breakthrough came in 1987 when he reached the finals of the Thelonious Monk International Competition. From 1991 to 2018, he was a member of the WDR Big Band Cologne, with whom he recorded around 50 albums. In 2004, Chastenier released the solo album For You. He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Till Brönner and Bob Brookmeyer.
