Elisabeth Dorathea "Liesbeth" List, born on December 12, 1941, in Bandoeng, Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia), was a Dutch singer. She began her music career at age 18 when she moved to Amsterdam and appeared in the AVRO talent show "Nieuwe Oogst." This led to collaborations with Ramses Shaffy on the theatre show Shaffy Chantant (1964) and their award-winning performance at the Europe Cup for Best Singing Performance in Knokke, Belgium. List released her debut album Liesbeth List (1966), followed by collaborations with Mikis Theodorakis on his Mauthausen Ballad. She continued releasing albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s. List won the John Kraaijkamp Musical Award for her role in the musical Piaf, de Musical in 2000 and 2009. She retired from music in 2017 due to dementia and passed away on March 25, 2020.
