Bassheads was a British house duo from Wirral formed in 1989. The group consisted of Nick Murphy and Eamonn Anthony Deery. Their recordings include the white-label EP The Defhouse Vol. 1 (1990). Recognition increased with the single “Is There Anybody Out There?” (1991), which reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart and number 25 in the Netherlands. The track featured re-recorded samples following legal threats regarding the use of music by Talking Heads and Afrika Bambaataa. Subsequent recordings include the singles “Back to the Old School” (1992), which reached number 12 in the United Kingdom, and “Who Can Make Me Feel Good?” (1992), which reached number 38. The duo released the album C.O.D.E.S. (1993) before becoming inactive. Murphy released recordings under the name Angel and issued remixes of “Who Can Make Me Feel Good?” in 2024.
