Reginald Mobley

Reginald Mobley, born on October 21, 1977 in Gainesville, Florida, is an African-American countertenor known for his classical repertoire. Raised singing jazz and gospel music, Mobley discovered Bach during high school and initially pursued art before shifting to vocal training at Oakwood University. He later studied with Jean Ronald LaFond at the University of Florida and Roy Delp at Florida State University. Mobley has performed extensively with ensembles such as Apollo's Fire and the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. In 2019, he collaborated on Nigra Sum Sed Formosa: A Fantasia on Microaggressions with composer Jonathan Woody. Mobley released his first solo album, Because, in May 2023, featuring a collection of spirituals performed with pianist Baptiste Trotignon. He also sang at the coronation of Charles III and the BBC Proms in 2023.
