Birdbrain was an American post-grunge band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1992 by guitarist‑singer Joey Amicangelo and drummer Mike Benway, with bassist Frank Barrientos initially. The group released its debut album Bliss in 1995 under TVT Records, followed by the single "Youth of America", which appeared in the 1996 film Scream and later in the 1997 film Masterminds. In 1997, the band released the album Let’s Be Nice, and tracks such as "Confession" and "Roslindale", and received a nomination for Best Indie Album at the Boston Music Awards that year. Internal conflicts and managerial disputes led to a brief tour and the band's dissolution later that year.
