Pay the Girl is an American rock ensemble formed in 2001 in Cincinnati. Vocalist Jason Allen Phelps began performing in local venues in the late 1990s before establishing the group, which included guitarists Mark Cooper and Dave Harris, bassist Drew Phillips, and drummer Greg Braun. The ensemble released an eponymous demo EP in 2002, which led to a contract with TVT Records. In 2002, the group's track "Clueless" appeared on the soundtrack for the film Swimfan. Later that year, the band performed as the opening act for Shakira during a world tour. TVT Records released the ensemble's debut studio recording, Pay the Girl, in 2003. The album featured the single "Freeze", which reached number 21 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart. The group became inactive in 2005.
